A Short Story a Day #32

Today’s very short story is “The House of Asterion” by Jorge Luis Borges.  It is difficult to say what this story is really about without giving it all away; suffice it to say that it appears to concern a rather unique person who lives alone in an enormous house in ancient times.  I am not sure how much is lost in translation from the Spanish, but there are certainly deeper layers of meaning than what at first appears, and a mythic resonance that lingers.

Literary Fruit rating: 7 out of 10.
